FORT
LAUDERDALE, FL, July 17, 2009
LifeSync
Corporation, the innovator of the LifeSync®
Wireless ECG System, announced its ongoing
relationship with UMass Memorial to support
improving patient safety through the hospital’s
implementation of the LifeSync® Wireless
System with LeadWear Disposable for the
Heart and Vascular Hospital at UMass Memorial
Medical Center.
The Medical
Center ranks number one in Massachusetts
and in New England for surviving a heart
attack. It also ranks in the top five in
the nation according to The Centers for
Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).. UMass
Memorial also recently was named a Top 100
Hospital for Cardiovascular Benchmarks by
Thomson Reuters. Thomson Reuters examined
the performance of nearly 1,000 US hospitals
by analyzing their outcomes for measures
related to coronary artery bypass grafts
and percutaneous coronary interventions,
such as angioplasties.
The LifeSync®
System with its LeadWear® Disposable
offers patient safety and productivity solutions
to hospitals. The system, which works in
conjunction with a hospital’s installed
patient monitoring equipment, un-tethers
patients from lead wires, increases the
accuracy of patient alarms and decreases
the risk of hospital acquired infections.
Jay Cyr, Vice
President of the Heart and Vascular Center
of Excellence at the UMASS Memorial Center,
said, “After having some issues dealing
with standard reusable ECG lead wires, a
combination of alarms issues and other clinical
concerns, we identified the LifeSync®
Wireless ECG System as a potential clinical
solution. We conducted a study of the system
that demonstrated we could have improved
outcomes, so we rolled the product out to
our Cardiac Medical Telemetry unit, Cath
lab, Cardiac ICU and telemetry floors. Being
able to use the same system throughout the
continuum of care was a big factor in our
decision.”
“Disposable
leads are much better for the patients and
nurses in preventing nosocomial infections.
Other telemetry boxes do not have the option
of disposable leads making it difficult
to keep them clean.” Stated Nurse
Manager Sharon Krupski, RN, BSN, MHA, NHA
of the Heart and Vascular Step-Down unit.
Shelley Hartman,
President of LifeSync Corporation, said,
“UMass Memorial Medical Center has
been an award-winning hospital for many
years and continuous to provide best-in-class
medical services to the citizens of Massachusetts.
LifeSync Corporation is proud to be partnered
with this prestigious institution focused
on patient safety and hospital productivity.”
